Product Description
The 2006 was a typical growing season, although slightly cooler than normal. Harvest began September 29 and finished October 3. Small lot fermentation with multiple native and selected yeast types (BDX/CSM) in open tanks were hand punched during the fermentation process four times per day which adds to the complexity of the wine and allows the depth and power of our estate Cabernet Sauvignon to show through. Aging for up to 24 months in French oak barrels (82% new) and a further six months of aging in the bottle before release. The name Terra Blanca, Latin for white earth, is named for the high calcium carbonate content that whitens soils of our Red Mountain vineyard and helps produce the incredible depth and structure in the grapes. The first grapes were harvested from our estate vineyard in 1997
